Review: Dead Ever After

Dead Ever After
Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really don’t know what to say about this one. It’s wasn’t bad in the traditional sense and I have mixed emotions about the plot. The way everything and everyone was wrapped up in a neat little bow as well as the ending left a little to be desired. Maybe Charlaine Harris just burned out in the end and though it’s a solid book for the most part, it’s indicative of what’s been going on in the series as a whole. In the beginning it was fresh and exciting, but eventually this book like the last several were just “meh”. Sookie never really progressed as a character should that has had the experiences she had and the choices she’s made especially in this book concerning her love life and life in general just doesn’t feel organic. Maybe that’s the point, Sookie being this odd person and all, but for me, that killed the series. I’ll always look back on this series with fond memories and this book won’t tarnish them one bit. Like the last several I’ll likely forget it altogether in a couple of months.
