Getting through the process

Let’s be honest. If you’re a first time writer/novelist, the process through which one moves forward from the initial idea to a finished work is overwhelming. There’s just so much information out there that one can literally drown in information. Editing, publishing, marketing, etc. are loaded topics and for the novice, are enough to make one reconsider writing in general. I have been working on Amelia Jones book 1 for almost 2 years! I have had a personal friend help me shape and edit it, I have paid a professional off and on to help edit it, and even after finally “finishing” it, I’m still paying for one more thourough edit. Even after all of this, I still have to decide how to get to publishing. Do I send a million queries to prospective literary agents hoping beyond hope that one chooses to represent me, or do I just get the thing formatted and try my luck on Amazon and Apple? I’m probably going to try a hybrid option, try traditional for like a month or so and then if that doesn’t work, self publish so I can get it out of the way. At this point, I’m going to be happy just to be able to say it’s completely finished and someone can buy it somewhere if they want to. Did I mention I that I still haven’t completely decided on the title and I still have to get the cover designed afterward?

Someone remind me why I did this again?
